The Old Mirth State; Bill Team
I was a little confused about what the Humorfest was when I first heard about it. I thought it sounded like it would be an interesting event to go and see.
When the second speaker, Bill Team, began a passage from Rash Choices, the thing that I noticed was how much he got into the reading. He seemed to become the characters that he was talking about. He got very involved in the stories he was reading. This was great because it got you involved and kept you interested the whole time. The downside of this however, is that it was very hard to distinguish when he was reading as opposed to when he was stating his personal views on the passages. He would go through a process of reading a passage and then in between these readings he would talk about how this related to him in his life.
I did find it to be a very interesting experience and a pleasant surprise. I thought it was going be people telling jokes and a lot of laughing, but the readings seemed to show more about how people use humor to overcome negative things in their lives. This was another thing that made it hard to get into the event. I think that if I had a better idea of what it was going to be like then I would have been able to enjoy it a little more. This was an event that I am very glad I attended. I did find it interesting, even though there were some parts that I couldn’t get into. Overall, I would call it a successful reading session.
