Sports Fan-Atic
Chris Sean Patterson is a Pittsburgh native who is 21 years old and is currently a senior at ECU. He plans on graduating in May of 2009. He was an only child growing up in Raleigh, North Carolina but has made many friends along the way. These friends have made lasting impressions on Chris and his best memories are with his buddies. Chris is a young man with a lot to offer and hopes one day to make enough money to travel the world in a luxurious boat. He is yearning to visit Athens, Greece because of his interest in Greek mythology. Once completing school Chris would like to work as a broadcast journalist.
I interviewed Steve Bold, a friend of Chris’ for 11 years. They met in elementary school and also lived down the street from one another. Steve would describe Chris as loyal friend and a very hard worker. I asked Steve what was unique about Chris and he replied, “His dedication to watching sports, attending games and supporting his teams.”
Chris is an avid Steelers fan and has attended at least 70 games. His parents are avid fans as well and they get season tickets every year.
I asked Steve what is most important to Chris and he replied, “Graduating from college and getting a job at ESPN.” I also asked Steve what Chris does not like and he replied, “Soccer and the Dallas Cowboys because soccer is boring and he grew up despising the Cowboys.”
Chris is also an animal lover with two pets of his own, a cat named Atlanta and a dog named Katie. Although Chris is an innocent man raised with using manners he also enjoys partying and living up to ECU’s unwritten rule about drinking. Many unforgettable memories of Chris are with his buddies partying.
Chris’ other long time friend, Matt DiPierro, describes Chris as, “chill, crazy and special.” Chris and Matt have been friends for 7 years and met in high school their sophomore year. Matt points out that Chris’ favorite hobby is partying with friends, drinking and watching sports. Since Chris works at Tie Breaker’s, a local sports bar, he is surrounded by others who also enjoy drinking. I also asked Matt what bugs Chris and he replied, “Girls that complain all the time that have nothing to complain about.” Matt also points out that family and friends are very important to Chris, he is friendly, fun and easy to get along with.
Mike Janice, another friend of Chris, describes him as a harmless guy that is easy to get along with and a very out-going person. Mike and Chris have known each other for 6 years and met at Leesville High School in Ms. Goldberg’s freshman English class. The two struck up a conversation which ended up getting them in trouble for disrupting class. The punishment allowed the boys to get to know one another even more, since they had to write a joint paper on respecting the teacher. Since Mike remembers all the details he insisted on telling me Chris’ most embarrassing times. Mike states, “Sometimes when Chris gets drunk he will put on girl’s earrings.” Mike was also nice enough to provide me with pictures of such event. He also points out that he cusses like a sailor but is also very polite and respectable when need be. Mike described Chris as “cool, out-going and harmless.” I asked Mike if he could think of a memorable event with Chris and he remembered a Halloween night when Chris was brave enough to scream on 5th Street that a cop was speeding, only to be yelled at by another cop that it was okay.
It is easy to see that Chris is an easy-going, light-hearted person who loves sports and spending time with friends. He is also ambitious, courageous and comfortable with who he is. Chris is a dedicated sports fan, successful student and loyal friend to many. He is fun to be around and is also laid-back. He also has dreams to be successful in life and keeps his family and friends high on his priority list.
