Jared Jackson
Jared Jackson is a sophomore here at East Carolina this year. He is from Roxboro, North Carolina and graduated from Person High School in 2006. He has three stepbrother and one step-sister, and is the middle child. Jackson has found ECU a big transition from his small hometown but has some big dreams for his future at the university.
Jackson is setting his sights high early on in his college career. Jared went in to a Criminal Justice major as a freshman. But his true passion dragged him out of an interest in law enforcement and into the fire of journalism. This is Jackson’s second year working for the east carolinian newspaper and he is the Assistant Sports Editor. Jackson has a love for college sports and is an ECU fan first, UNC fan second. Pirate Country won’t hold the Tarheel’s against him too much. Jackson was very busy this past football season. Jackson had several appearences on College Sports Television(CSTV), giving his insight to East Carolina’s chances in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl. Jackson hopes to get an internship with Pirate Radio after graduation.
There is alot more to Jackson than just his journalism skills. Jackson is a shy person when you first meet him. Then his natural humor and personality come to light. One of his best memories was when Jackson and his dad went to a Bruce Springsteen concert in 2003. This is one of the first times that Jackson and his dad felt a connection with something they both enjoy. Jackson said,”It was a life changing experience for him.”
