Television’s Focus Turns Viral

As cable news followed the countdown to Super Tuesday, the video clips they showed were very similar to ones found on YouTube or other viral internet websites. None of the cable news channels focused on the politicians platforms, but focused more on the latest controversy among candidates. The networks did like they did back during the primaries of the 2004 election showing clips of Howard Dean’s BYAH speech over and over again. The speech has received over 489,000 views on YouTube. This year Hillary Clinton’s emotional teary eyed speech was played over and over again. This speech has already received over 40,000 views on YouTube. Just like this viral content brings in views on YouTube it brings in ratings for the Networks. The networks will do anything to bring in ratings. So if that means showing video of somebody’s latest hiccup instead of covering campaign issues, the latest hiccup would get priority.
