Super Tuesday, Super Results
Senator John McCain took the lead with the Republican Party Super Tuesday, while Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton fought a close battle.
Even though some conservatives argue that McCain hasn’t captured their votes yet, McCain won nine states Tuesday. McCain won AZ, CA, CT, DE, IL, MO, NJ, NY, and OK. Mitt Romney came in second, while Mike Huckabee was in third.
Obama and Clinton aren’t giving each other much room to breathe. Obama got only four more states than Clinton. Obama won AL, AK, CO, CT, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, MN, MO, ND and UT. Clinton won AZ, AR, CA, MA, NJ, NM, NY, OK, and TN.
It has been projected that after Super Tuesday, Huckabee will drop out of the presidential race. But so far that has not been the case. Huckabee is hoping to get the conservative votes that McCain and Romney can’t seem to get.
The number of delegates needed to win the Republican nomination is 1,191. So far, McCain has 714 delegates, Romney-286, and Huckabee-217. The number of delegates needed to win the Democrat nomination is 2,025. Clinton has 1,108 and Obama has 1,049.
Clinton gave her campaign a self-loan Today. Some believe this was a competitive move to try and win more delegates than Obama. The race is too close to go home now.
